Baku. Rashad Suleymanov–APA. US government plans to reduce armament expenditures, Chairman of the US Senate’s Armed Services Committee Carl Levin, APA reports. He said they had no plans to cut army personnel. The government intends to cut some expensive programs like missile defense because of financial crisis.

The committee chairman said they would investigate the ways for involvement into the joint missile defense programs with Russia. “There is a big potential to extend relations with Russia. Obama’s administration supports this idea”.

Russia offered to the United States to use Azerbaijan-based Gabala radar station instead of missile defense systems in Europe. The issue was discussed in 2007-2008, but the parts have not reached agreement of opinion.
