A powerful fire that broke out following a strike on a thermal power plant in the city of Kerch today has caused power outages across a large part of Crimea, the Krymski Veter Telegram channel said, APA reports.
According to preliminary information, the strike targeted a power facility located in Kerch’s Arshintsevo district. A major fire broke out at the site after the attack.
According to the report, approximately half of Crimea has been left without electricity as a result of the incident.
According to Crimea’s state energy company Krymenergo, the cities of Yevpatoria, Saki, Krasnoperekopsk and Dzhankoy, as well as the Krasnoperekopsk, Saki, Dzhankoy and Krasnogvardeysky districts, are currently without power.
“Efforts are underway to eliminate the consequences of the accident and carry out restoration work. Electricity supply is expected to be restored during the day,” the company said.
