Unofficial moments of US president’s inauguration – REPORT – PHOTOSESSION
Unfavorable weather caused additional problems for the people. The temperature was 4 degrees, the wind was blowing at 24km/h and the people were dressed lightly. Serious security measures were taken on the roads leading to the Congress. National Guard soldiers were responsible for the security. Hummers were on both sides of the roads, sharpshooters stood watch on rooftops, and helicopters circled overhead.
Some scenes on the roadsides reminded of our bazaars. Tens of Americans were selling jackets, caps, badges with Barack Obama’s name, photos and hundreds of things related to the inauguration. Special edition of the Washington Post on inauguration was also sold near the subway. The special edition also printed letter of congratulation of the US Azeris Network to Barack Obama, Hilary Clinton and other new members of the government.
The Americans walked toward the Congress, where the ceremony took place, for more than half an hour, and were disappointed facing with a high fence there. They needed in special tickets to get over the fence, but the tickets were allotted by the Congressmen to their voters. Lucky citizens could receive the tickets via Internet. However even some of the invitees remained behind the fence because the territory of inauguration was too crowded. Despite all there difficulties, the Barack Obama’s inauguration endowed the people with new hopes and wishes. The people flown to Washington from the different regions of the United States couldn’t hide tears because they expected positive changes from the new administration.
Washington will soon return to its ordinary life, but the people will have to wait for long to realize their hopes mixed now with the capital’s air. Everyone hopefully looks forward for solution to the social problems and elimination of the impact of world crisis on the US economy. Therefore the inauguration was not an entertainment for many people. They came to Washington led by their own hopes.
