McCain told his supporters that he called to Obama and congratulated him. “A little while ago, I had the honor of calling Senator Barack Obama to congratulate him on being elected the next president of the country that we both love. In a contest as long and difficult as this campaign has been, his success alone commands my respect for his ability and perseverance. We’ve had a great ride, a great experience and it’s full of memories that we will always treasure”.
McCain thanked Sarah Palin, candidate for Vice-Presidency, for her campaigning and her support.
US President George Bush also called to Democrat Senator Barack Obama and congratulated him on becoming the 44th President of the country. “It is great night for You, Your family and your supporters”, said Bush.

Barack Obama addressed his supporters in Chicago after the announcement of first results. "It’s been a long time coming. But tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America. All of those watching tonight from beyond our shores, in the parliament and in the palaces, those huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of the world, our stories are singular but our destiny is shared. A new dawn of American leadership is at hand. To those who would tear the world down, we will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security, we support you”, said Obama.
