Baku-APA. U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt Campbell would visit Australia next week, the State Department said in a statement Friday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Campbell, who is in charge of U.S. foreign policy in the Asian-Pacific region, would arrive in Sydney next Wednesday, where he would meet experts at the Lowy Institute, a Syndey-based think tank, the statement said.

The following day he would travel to the western city of Perth to lead the U.S. delegation at the Australian-American Leadership Dialogue (AALD).

AALD is a "private, non-partisan" organization created in 1991 to "promote exchanges" between American and Australian leaders from government, the private sector and academia, according to the State Department.

Campbell will return to Washington next Monday, the statement said.
