Baku-APA. A public vocational school in the U.S. state of West Virginia has been shut down after the residue of methamphetamines was found in the school building, ABC News reported Tuesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The report quoted the state’s Department of Education Spokeswoman Liza Cordeiro as saying that there were positive tests that came back for the residue of methamphetamines, and authorities decided to shut down the school until the residue is cleaned up.

The residue was found during an investigation of former school principal Keith Phipps and former school teacher Jack Turley, the report said.

In May, Phipps and Turley were arrested as part of an investigation that alleged they smoked meth on the school’s campus. They are facing misdemeanor charges and are accused of buying cold medicine to cook meth on school property.

Exposure to low levels of meth residue can cause headaches, and individuals might get sick from inhaling toxic substances at a site where meth ingredients were used or from inhaling second hand smoke from individuals using the drug, according to the state’s Department of Health and Human Resources.
