Hillary Clinton to visit Indonesia, Hong Kong

Baku-APA. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will travel to Indonesia and Hong Kong of China later this month, the State Department said on Tuesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said that the top U.S. envoy will arrive in Bali, Indonesia on July 21, and her visit " demonstrates U.S. sustained commitment to our enhanced strategic engagement with Southeast Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)."

During her four-day stay, the secretary will participate for the third time in the ASEAN Post Ministerial Conference hosted by Indonesia, with a number of planned bilateral meetings. Besides, she will lead the U.S. delegation to the 18th ASEAN Regional Forum, where a broad range of regional security issues will be discussed.

Clinton will also meet with Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa to discuss bilateral, regional and global issues. Nuland said the pair will co-host the Joint Commission of the U.S.- Indonesian Comprehensive Partnership.

Clinton will then go on to Hong Kong on July 25, where she will meet with Chief Executive Donald Tsang and members of the Hong Kong Legislative Council. Nuland said the secretary will deliver remarks underscoring U.S. economic leadership in the Asia Pacific region.

The trip follows closely Clinton’s planned visit to Turkey, Greece and India which begins on Friday.
