Baku-APA. A car slammed into a group of cyclists, injuring 11 people, one critically, near the border of Culver City and Los Angeles Thursday morning, authorities said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The 27-year-old female driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, said Officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Investigators also are looking into whether the driver might have been texting or been otherwise distracted, according to local broadcast reports. Her name has not been released.

The cyclists were apparently part of a group called Midnight Ridazz that rides at night, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The group, perhaps 100 cyclists in all, had visited a scenic outlook in the Baldwin Hills area. Part of the group was waiting for others to come down from the outlook at about 1:50 a.m., according to reports from the scene.

"It looked like she was stopping, but she just kept going," said one unidentified witness interviewed on television. Another likened what happened to a bowling ball knocking down pins.

The person, who was injured critically, was rushed to a nearby hospital, but conditions of other victims were not clear, sources said.
