Baku – APA. Kenya’s police commissioner is warning of possible terror attacks in the country, after threats by the Somali militant group al-Shabab, APA reports quoting “The Voice of America”.

Commissioner Mathew Iteere on Monday called for tighter security in shopping malls, hotels and on public transportation.

He appealed for the public to be extra vigilant and said the government had “taken measures to provide adequate security,” including along the border with Somalia.

On Sunday, a spokesman for al-Shabab warned of revenge attacks against Kenya for supporting Somalia’s transitional government.

The Somali government and allied African Union troops launched an offensive against al-Shabab in Somalia last week.

Al-Shabab claimed responsibility for twin suicide blasts that killed 76 people in Uganda last July.
