Baku-APA. Ten people were killed and dozens of others were wounded in clashes between the Libyan security forces and protesters on Thursday in northwestern Libyan town of Az-Zawiyah, about 50 kilometers west to the capital, Dubai-based Al-Jazeera reported, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency.

Pro-government forces attacked the town on Thursday, while clashes between security forces and protesters continued in Tripoli.

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s son Seif al-Islam said that some Arab media delivered distorted reports about the situation in Libya, and Libya has invited a group of foreign journalists to come to the country on Friday, Al-Jazeera said.

Gaddafi accused al-Qaida of being behind the protests in Libya, in a televised address to Libyan people Thursday afternoon. He warned people of chaos if protests continued. The Libyan government has reportedly seen defection of its security forces and resignation of diplomats since the protests broke out on Feb. 16. The country’s state TV said a total of 300 people including 111 soldiers and 189 civilians have been killed in the unrest in the past week.
