"Natural gas will be supplied to Georgia under a social tariff over the next 20 years. Therefore, of course, we must express our special gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for this," Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said during a briefing, APA’s local bureau reports.
According to him, several important agreements were signed in various areas within the framework of the visit to Azerbaijan.
“The first direction concerns the import and transit of gas from Azerbaijan. Special importance was attached to extending the agreement on social gas. This agreement was signed for a period of 20 years and was due to expire by the end of this year. Extending the document for another 20 years was especially important for our country and our people,” Kobakhidze added.
Kobakhidze stated that Georgia had lost potential revenues due to the inactivity of the Baku-Tbilisi-Supsa pipeline over the past three years. According to him, an agreement was reached with the Azerbaijani side to resume the operation of the pipeline, and on this basis Georgia will receive tens of millions of lari in revenue annually.
