Innovative approaches and best practices discussed at the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku could contribute to solving housing problems in Canada, Lindsay Neeley, Vice President for Policy at the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), said in a statement to APA-Economics within the framework of WUF13.
She noted that the growing gap between incomes and housing prices and rental costs in Canada is further exacerbating the issue of housing affordability. This situation particularly affects the most vulnerable groups of the population.
“Today, the housing crisis is not only a problem for Canada, but a global challenge,” Lindsay Neeley said.
The CMHC official noted that WUF13 is an important platform for learning about similar problems faced by different countries and the ways to solve them.
“Being in Baku and learning from the experiences of other countries is very valuable for us. In the coming days, I expect to learn more about new ideas and innovative approaches that can be applied to address housing problems,” she emphasized.
Lindsay Neeley added that the knowledge and experience gained at the forum will support the development of more effective housing policies in Canada.
