The New Urban Agenda remains the international community’s common roadmap for building inclusive, safe, sustainable and resilient cities, President of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly Annalena Baerbock said in her video address during the opening ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to her, the principles of the New Urban Agenda remain as relevant today as they were 10 years ago when they were adopted.
“The New Urban Agenda remains our common roadmap,” Annalena Baerbock noted.
She emphasized that the main goal of the document is to promote the development of inclusive, safe, sustainable and resilient cities.
According to the President of the UN General Assembly, in July 2026, the United Nations (UN) General Assembly will hold a two-day high-level meeting dedicated to the midterm review of the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.
Annalena Baerbock added that the meeting will create an important opportunity for renewing political commitments and accelerating the implementation of the document.
