The opening of the second international conference organized by the Western Azerbaijan Community on the topic "The Right to Return - Advancing Justice for Azerbaijanis Expelled from Armenia" has been held, APA reports.
More than 100 foreign guests from 51 countries, including Türkiye, the USA, the UK, Russia, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Belgium, Georgia, Canada, Spain, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malta, Japan, Albania, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, China, Denmark, Ethiopia, Estonia, Algeria, France, Croatia, Jordan, Iraq, Korea, Lithuania, Hungary, Malaysia, Morocco, Egypt, Montenegro, Nepal, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Saudi Arabia, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, North Macedonia, Thailand, Ukraine, and New Zealand, have participated in the conference.
Among the guests, there were 11 parliament members from 7 countries, an advisor to the president of one country and an advisor to the vice president of another country, a former minister, former ambassadors from 2 countries, 24 professors from 23 prestigious universities in 17 countries, 14 active members of the Azerbaijani diaspora, founders and leaders of 20 research centers and academies from 17 countries, heads and experts of 12 international research institutes from 11 countries, 3 members of government councils representing 3 countries, 8 lawyers and human rights defenders from 8 countries, 1 movement leader, responsible staff members from various parliamentary offices, journalists, and businessmen.
More than 25 diplomatic missions accredited in Azerbaijan were also represented at the event.
25 speeches on 5 panel topics were heard at the conference.
In the closing session, Dr. Jakub Koreyba, a leading researcher at the Center for Eurasian Studies (Poland), made a summary-style speech regarding the discussions.
In the end, the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Western Azerbaijan Community, Academician Ahliman Amiraslanov, stated that the Western Azerbaijan Community intends to continue this platform annually and promote broader scientific, legal, and public discussions on this topic. The academician also mentioned that there are plans to publish the conference materials to ensure that this information reaches a wider audience.
