Baku. Farid Mirzayev – APA. The number of areas at risk of landslides and flooding has increased in Azerbaijan, Sadiq Amiraslanov, an official of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources told APA.
According to him, 11 new landslide areas emerged in Baku, Absheron peninsula and districts in the last few months.
He noted that in this regard, monitoring was conducted in the southern part of the country and Shamakhi and Ismayilli districts in the first ten days of November.
He said intense precipitation during the month caused the activation of landslide zones.
According to him, landslides that occurred in the country’s southern part pose a serious threat to private houses.
The ministry plans to monitor the Lesser Caucasus and the northern regions of country in the near future, added Amiraslanov.
