Baku. Konul Kamilgizi – APA. Geomagnetic disturbance is expected to remain high today and tomorrow because of a new, gigantic hole emerging on the surface of the Sun, which has open magnetic power lines, Elchin Babayev, deputy director of the Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences told APA.

According to him, there are 11 stains and an active region on the surface of the Sun.

“Though the active region AR 2612 located, near the edge of the solar disk, has complex magnetic configuration, the possibility of a strong ignition is very low. This active region will soon be the center of the visible disk and become “geoeffective”. “Kp index is 4 (integer 0-9) and this means G1 geomagnetic storm,” he added.

Babayev noted that geomagnetic disturbance is expected to remain high today and tomorrow because of a new, gigantic hole emerging in the Sun’s surface which has open magnetic power lines.

“Charged particles leave the solar holes easily and travel towards interplanetary space in no time, perturbing the Earth’s magnetosphere and causing geomagnetic storms,” he said.

He stressed that fluctuations in the atmospheric pressure and air temperature as well as the unstable cosmic air are the main factors expected to affect people in the coming days.
