Education Minister Mikayil Jabbarov told APA that Azerbaijan will switch to 12-year education, when the process will be fully developed.

He said that preparations are underway, mistakes made in the past are being learned: “This process will be implemented to improve quality of the education system. We developed a new curriculum system in the country, but didn’t prepare teachers properly. As a result of it, we are facing many problems. We should hold trainings for several years so that textbooks are written in accordance with the new curriculum. We will switch to 12-year education as soon as we are ready in order to avoid such shortcomings. Switching to 12-year education in Azerbaijan isn’t expected in the next academic year.”
