Dangerous infections have been detected in 231 of 4,141 people who voluntarily donated blood in Azerbaijan on the Day of Ashura, Sevinj Maharramova, head of the Laboratory of the Central Blood Bank of the Institute of Hematology and Transfusion of the Health Ministry, told APA.
One of the donors was found infected with HIV, according to Maharramova.
Of them, 83 were diagnosed with Hepatitis B, 73 with Hepatitis C and 74 with Syphilis, she said, adding that the blood with dangerous infections will be burned.
As many as 4,141 persons donated blood during a voluntarily blood donation campaign held in Azerbaijan on the Day of Ashura. The campaign was co-organized by the Ministry of Health and the Caucasian Muslims Office.
