Today the facade lights of buildings in Baku will be switched off for one hour due to the Earth Hour 2019 celebration, ONA reports.

With the initiative of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), every year, on last Saturday of March, the Earth Hour is held around the world. Within the framework of the action, the facade lights of the buildings switched off from 20:30 to 21:30 pm.

Earth Hour is a global environmental movement that mobilizes hundreds of millions of people to make a difference for the planet. Its core vision is to create environmental impact by utilizing the power of the crowd.

Azerbaijan joined the initiative that started in Sydney in 2007, with turning off the lights of the symbol of Baku, the Maiden Tower, in March 2011.

Now, more than 200 billion people from 188 countries participate in this campaign.

This year the lights of Baku Olympic Stadium, Heydar Aliyev Center, Seaside Boulevard, the National Gymnastics Arena, ASAN Service Centers in all regions, Flame Towers complex, and other well-known buildings will be switched off for one hour.
