The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has announced that explosions and major fires have occurred on three oil tankers that violated regulations in the Strait of Hormuz, APA's Tehran bureau reports, citing the IRGC Navy.
Three oil tankers traveling along an unauthorized transit route in the Strait of Hormuz have experienced explosions and major fires since this morning.
The statement noted that the tankers struck naval mines and exploded after switching off their navigation and identification systems and traveling along unauthorized routes through the Strait of Hormuz. The vessels are currently abandoned and continue to burn off the southern shores of the strait.
It was added that the regulations established by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz had repeatedly been communicated to all vessels through radio stations and naval notifications.
The statement warned that vessels' failure to comply with or disregard these regulations, as well as their cooperation with the US military to transit through unauthorized routes in the Strait of Hormuz, would result in such incidents.
