“When Azerbaijan regained its independence in 1991, Israel was one of the first countries to recognize it. Palestine — both Hamas and Fatah — has always sided with Armenia,” Turkish journalist and writer Yılmaz Özdil said on his YouTube channel, APA reports.

He noted that the Azerbaijani state has never forgotten this:

“For example, we have long forgotten how the Palestinians stabbed us in the back, how Palestinians trained PKK members in their camps, and how Palestinians acted together with ASALA. We do not even want to acknowledge how Palestine supported Greek Cyprus. But Azerbaijan never forgets what has been done against it. Because Azerbaijan views the world from Baku's perspective. Azerbaijan liberated Karabakh from occupation thanks to Israeli-made weapons. That is the truth. Of course, Türkiye also contributed. Azerbaijan purchased 70–80 percent of the weapons and ammunition used in military operations to liberate Karabakh from Israel. Israel even issued a statement supporting Azerbaijan's territorial integrity during that war. Azerbaijan has been cooperating directly with Israel on weapons and ammunition since 2012. When the AK Party came to power, for example, in 2004, Israeli weapons manufactured in Türkiye were sold to Azerbaijan. Yes, when the AK Party came to power, they facilitated the sale of Israeli weapons manufactured in Türkiye to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan uses Israeli air defense systems. We purchased S-400 systems for $2.5 billion, but we cannot even use them. We are trying to sell them elsewhere out of fear of the United States. Azerbaijan, meanwhile, purchased air defense systems from Israel at a lower price.”

Yılmaz Özdil also commented on the sale of UAVs from Türkiye to Azerbaijan. According to him, Azerbaijan has been jointly producing UAVs with Israel in the country since 2009, and Baku does not need Turkish UAVs.

“Everyone except Türkiye views the world from the perspective of their own capital. Mourning the children and women killed in Gaza is one thing, but opposing our brother Azerbaijan is something entirely different,” the Turkish journalist emphasized.

He said that the phrase “We are Mustafa Kemal's soldiers,” the “Grey Wolf” sign, and all these things came from Azerbaijan:

“Karabakh Victory Day falls on November 10. The date of the holiday was personally changed by President Ilham Aliyev because November 10 is the anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's death. Victory Day is celebrated in Azerbaijan on November 8. Out of respect for Atatürk, Azerbaijan even changed the date of its official Victory Day. We are talking about such a brother. Would anyone ever damage their relationship with such a brother?”

Yılmaz Özdil recalled that Azerbaijan also stood by Türkiye from 1919 to 1922, that donations were collected for the Kuvâ-yi Milliye (National Forces) in Baku during the Turkish War of Independence, and that a regiment consisting of Azerbaijanis joined the National Movement.

“Azerbaijan on one side, the rest of the world on the other — what Palestine?” he added.
