Mobile phones will also be considered POS terminals, APA reports.
This is reflected in a proposed amendment to the Law "On Electronic Commerce" submitted for discussion at today's session of the Milli Majlis (Parliament).
Under current legislation, a POS terminal is equipment designed to carry out transactions using payment cards, as well as to withdraw cash.
According to the draft law, a POS terminal will be defined as equipment intended for making cashless payments (including contactless payments) and/or withdrawing cash, including a mobile device equipped with the necessary software (a telephone handset and other terminal equipment receiving or capable of receiving mobile (cellular) services on mobile operators' public telecommunications networks).
The draft law was put to a vote and adopted in the first reading.
