Participants of the international conference on "Uniting efforts and enhancing cooperation for addressing the issue of missing persons" within the framework of the Baku Dialogue on Missing Persons visited the city of Shusha, APA's Karabakh bureau reports.
The guests got acquainted with the central square and fortress walls of the city of Shusha.
The Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Shusha district, Aydin Karimov, informed them about the history of the city of Shusha, its condition during the occupation, the reconstruction works carried out under the supervision of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, the restoration of historical monuments, and the plans ahead.
It was noted that during nearly 30 years of occupation, the historical buildings, mosques, and monuments in the city of Shusha were subjected to Armenian vandalism. After Shusha was liberated from occupation, large-scale restoration and reconstruction works were launched. Along with the establishment of infrastructure, the restoration of the city’s true historical appearance and its historical and cultural monuments also began.

The delegation arrived in the city of Shusha after their visit to Aghdara. A city tour was organized for the guests. They will inspect the Shusha prison, where Azerbaijani captives and hostages were once held and subjected to horrific torture.
Tomorrow, the event participants will visit Jabrayil and Zangilan.
