"As a result of taken joint measures after Trilateral Statement dated November 10, 2020, bodies of 1,713 Armenian servicemen were found, taken from area, and handed over to the opposite side," said Ismayil Akhundov, Secretary of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, head of the Working Group at a conference today on "Identification of missing persons - Humanitarian approach" dedicated to the August 30 - International Day of the Disappeared with an organization of the State Commission and International Committee of the Red Cross regarding prisoners of war, hostages and missing persons, APA reports.
Ismayil Akhundov has noted that in accordance with information by the International Committee of the Red Cross, 776 persons of Armenian origin are considered missing during the First Karabakh War, while 345 persons during the Second Karabakh War: "1,480 Azerbaijanis were released from captivity during the First Karabakh War, while 509 persons were handed over to the opposite side. At the same time, bodies of tens of people belonging to both sides, who died on the conflict line of troops and captivity, were handed over with mediation of the ICRC. In total, more than 650 humanitarian processes were conducted with ICRC participation. After the Trilateral Statement after Patriotic War, the opposite side has handed over 25 Azerbaijani citizens to the Republic of Azerbaijan. 5 of them (one serviceman, 4 civilians) are those, who were detained before September 27, 2020. However, the Republic of Azerbaijan released 159 persons of Armenian origin (118 servicemen, 41 civilians, including 5 women). Six of them (4 servicemen, 2 civilians) are those, who were detained before September 27, 2020."
