"As in many countries, the number of dangerous hydrometeorological events is increasing in Azerbaijan," said the head of the National Hydrometeorology Service under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, doctor of philosophy in geography, Umayra Taghiyeva, APA reports.
She said that studies show that over the past ten years, the number of strong winds of more than 25 meters/second has increased by 12 times.
Umayra Taghiyeva added that, unfortunately, the number of torrential rains is increasing against the background of decreasing rainfall. For this reason, over the past ten years, there has been an increase in floods by up to 18.5 times.
Hailfall is already observed in other regions rather than typical areas. The number of these cases has also increased up to 3.2 times.
