Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. An average annual temperature is rising in Azerbaijan. Director of National Hydrometeorological Department of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry Umayra Taghiyeva told APA that the weather was hotter in 2012 compared to 2011.
The average annual temperature was 14.5 C in Baku in 2011, while this figure was 1.2 C higher (15.7 C) in 2012. Such differences also occur in other regions of the country.
The precipitation decreased in Azerbaijan in 2012 compared to 2011. No significant change was observed in wind regime.
Taghiyeva said that the rise of average annual temperature is not the conclusion, reached only by Azerbaijani experts: “The annual report of the World Meteorological Organization also covers this fact. A similar process occurs all over the world. The average temperature rise is mostly observed in the northern hemisphere. The World Meteorological Organization reports that years 2000 to 2010 was the hottest decade ever recorded. The average annual temperature is rising all over the world every year. Such climate changes are mostly linked to the anthropogenic impact. Increasing concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere causes the rise of average global temperature."
