As of October 1, 2025, the remains of nearly 800 individuals, believed to be missing persons, have been discovered and retrieved from the liberated, the Chairman of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the State Security Service, Ali Naghiyev, said during his speech at the international conference titled "Uniting efforts and enhancing cooperation for addressing the issue of missing persons," APA reports.
He noted that, in this context, during excavations in those areas, remains believed to belong to 218 individuals were found in 29 mass graves and exhumed with the participation of representatives from investigative bodies.
"Due to large-scale construction and urgent measures carried out in these territories, remains believed to belong to 342 individuals were discovered and exhumed. Additionally, remains of 210 individuals were exhumed from graves of unknown martyrs buried without identification in 31 cemeteries located across 20 cities and districts of the country, who died during the First Karabakh War," he said.
