The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, issued a protest statement against the biased approach of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), APA reports ciitng the Ombudsman's Office.

The statement reads that the OSCE Bureau of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights published biased information on the Twitter social network aimed at inciting national enmity and disrupting the fragile peace process by increasing the feeling of hatred between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Armenia.

We state that there are numerous irrefutable shreds of evidence regarding the brutal killing of Azerbaijani prisoners of war by the Armenian armed forces, their torture, and humiliation by committing other inhumane acts.

Unfortunately, unlike Azerbaijan, the Armenian side does not conduct any investigation into such facts and thus does not comply with the obligations arising from the norms of international humanitarian law.

However, the OSCE does not give any reaction to the war crimes committed by Armenia by allowing double standards in relation to Azerbaijan, on the contrary, takes steps aimed at disrupting peacemaking activities by sharing biased information that does not reflect the truth about our country.

In this regard, we strongly condemn this biased attitude, purposefully demonstrated at this very sensitive time when the parties are getting closer to peace by recognizing each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty and call on the OSCE to demonstrate a fair position that serves to promote lasting peace between the parties and ensure human rights.”
