"A decision has been made to increase the minimum wage in all social packages implemented so far. As I noted, over the past period, the minimum wage has increased 3.1 times, from AZN 130 to AZN 400," Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Anar Aliyev said in an interview with APA and ARB24 TV channel.
The Minister noted that the minimum wage is a universal social standard by its nature:
“The law does not allow full-time workers to be paid a salary lower than the minimum wage. We monitor the implementation of this standard almost weekly. The labor and employment subsystem makes this possible. This process is carried out completely electronically. When we identify individuals receiving wages below the minimum wage within the framework of our monitoring measures, we send appropriate educational notifications to their employers and apply control measures. The minimum wage standard is relevant for both the public and private sectors. As part of the latest social reform package, the minimum wage increase was applied to about 700 thousand individuals. There are steps in the public sector according to a single tariff schedule. As the amount increases at the lowest step, it affects all steps. The mechanism in the private sector is somewhat the same. In general, the increase in the minimum wage has a positive effect on the growth of average monthly incomes in the country.”
