Azerbaijan discloses number of human trafficking crimes identified last year

The number of human trafficking crimes identified last year has been disclosed, APA reports.

This was stated in the “Annual Report of the National Coordinator for Combating Human Trafficking,” which was discussed at a joint meeting of the Human Rights, Legal Policy and State Building Committees of the Milli Majlis.

It was noted that 198 crimes were identified through operational-search measures carried out last year in the field of detecting human trafficking crimes and bringing guilty persons to justice. This is 8 fewer crimes compared to 2024. In 2025, 57 of those crimes were committed through the use of information technologies.

Including this, 152 human trafficking crimes were identified in 2025, which is 9 fewer crimes compared to 2024. Last year, 45 crimes related to illegal actions involving documents for the purpose of human trafficking were also identified, which is 1 more crime compared to 2024.

Ninety-seven percent of human trafficking crimes were solved, and two criminal groups were neutralized through operational measures carried out against 6 individuals. Ten criminal cases were initiated in connection with those unlawful acts. Within the framework of the investigation of one criminal case, nearly 20 facts were investigated. Under 8 criminal cases, 10 persons (9 women) were charged as accused, while 12 persons (11 women) were brought to court responsibility.
