15 drones spotted near military base in Belgium

Fifteen drones flew over the Elsenborn military base in Belgium last night, APA reports, citing en.ilsole24ore.com.

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed the news and is investigating, as reported by broadcaster Rtl.

Around 1:45 a.m., 15 drones were spotted over the military site in Elsenborn, near the German border. The drones were spotted accidentally during a test.

According to the first available information, the drones were accidentally spotted during an exercise to detect this type of aircraft. They are believed to have flown from Belgium to Germany and were also spotted by the police in Düren, on the other side of the border. The Ministry of Defence is investigating the incident, the origin of which is currently unknown.

In the case of Elsenborn, the mayor of Bütgenbach, Daniel Franzen, was not aware of the drone threat until this morning. He did, however, report that a drone had been used to search for a stray horse in the area, but it is currently unclear whether there is a connection between the two reports.
