President of ANAS: â€œReforms will start in the Academy after the development strategy of Azerbaijani science is signedâ€

Kamala Guliyeva â€“ APA. â€œThe Action Plan for development strategy and implementation of Azerbaijani science is ready,â€ president of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), academician Mahmud Karimov told APA. He said after the strategy is confirmed by the Presidentâ€™s Office, the activity of ANAS will be based on it. The strategy covers management of science, qualification of personnel, social provision of scientists, modernization of science, international relations and information provision of science.

According to Mahmud Karimov, reforms will be carried out in the academy after the strategy is signed.
â€œThe infrastructure of science should be thoroughly studied, monitoring should be conducted. The main priorities on science should be selected. After that there will be some personnel changes in the academy,â€ he said.

As regards the academyâ€™s monitoring in scientific research establishments, Karimov said the monitoring may start, if ANAS gets the authority envisaged in the provisions of strategy.
â€œWe do not know whether ANAS will get these authorities or not. If we get this authority, we can set up an expert commission. The commission may monitor scientific infrastructure,â€ he said.
Mahmud Karimov said along with ANAS, various ministries also had scientific research institutes.
â€œThe activity of these institutes should also be studied. There are inactive institutes among them. Decision should be passed in connection with them. On the other hand, the scientific experiments carried out in Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences are also carried out in those institutes,â€ he said.
