348 of 426 Azerbaijani citizens are men and 78 are women, AIDS Struggle Center told APA. 46 people died from AIDS in the country last year. 252 were infected with HIV in the different conditions.
Generally 1815 HIV-infected people have been registered at the AIDS Center since 1987, when the first case of infection was identified in the country. 239 people have died since then.
First Azerbaijani HIV-infected citizen was identified in 1992. HIV-infection was found in 609 families over the past 16 years.
