450 new schools to be constructed in Azerbaijan

Baku. Ilhama Isabalayevaâ€“APA. More than 100 new schools are planned to be constructed and more than 100 â€“ to be repaired this year, Minister of Education Misir Mardanov told APA. The main goal of this project is to avoid the multi-shift education and to pass to the five-day academic week. The ministry said 161 new schools were handed over the last year, 129 schools were repaired and supplied with modern equipments.
Heydar Aliyev Foundation initiated the construction of 226 new schools and reconstruction of 39 schools and 10 kindergartens as well. 450 new schools are planned to be constructed, 600 â€“ to be provided with new buildings and 1200- to be repaired fundamentally within the State Program on reduction of poverty and sustainable development in Azerbaijan in 2008-2015 approved by the president. In recent years more than 700 thousand pupils, 50 percent of all pupils in the country, got the opportunity to study at the modern schools.
