Sixth group of International Peace Corps officially inaugurated

Sumgait. Victoria Dementieva-APA. Sixth group of International Peace Corps has been today inaugurated officially, APA reports.
61 volunteers from the US attended the event held in the Culture House named after Narimanov. After inauguration, they will live in various regions of Azerbaijan to exchange experience during 2 years. International Peace Corps Country Director for Azerbaijan, Zoltan Szigethy, Donald Lu, Deputy US Ambassador, Isgandar Isgandarov, Deputy Education Minister, representatives of Economic Development Ministry, Youth and Sport Ministry, Sumgait Executive Power participated at the event.
Mr. Szignethy addressing the event noted that the program had been carried out since 2003. To him, first group of volunteers consisted of English language teachers, but this program covers advisers on work with business and youths.
“340 volunteers of Peace corps worked in Azerbaijan during previous years. Some continue their activity in the country and some of them often visit Azerbaijan to meet their friends”, he said.
He stressed that the aim of Peace Corps was to exchange cultural experience between the US and other countries. The program is realized in 76 countries at present.
