Abel Maharramov: The issue of renaming Baku State University for Mahammad Emin Rasulzade is not under discussion

Baku. Elnur Mamedli - APA. â€œBy order of the Head of State, the practice of naming higher education institutions after celebrities has been eliminated. The issue of renaming Baku State University for Mahammad Emin Rasulzade again is not under discussion now,â€ said MP Abel Maharramov, rector of Baku State University (BSU).
According to him, the name of BSU was changed in every interim period.
â€œUniversity was named after Lenin, then Kirov, and Rasulzade after independence. It doesnâ€™t carry the name of anybody now.
Of course, the university can not solve everything. The university can express its opinion about the name which will be given. One of the founders of the University is Rasulzade. The University was the first graduate school of Azerbaijan. But today we are not discussing the question of renaming it now. There will most likely be no discussions about this issue one the even of the anniversary either. But if necessary, the matter will be discussed again at the state level,â€ he added.
