Standardization, Metrology, Conformity Assessment and Accreditation Strengthening Project presented in Azerbaijan

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA-Economics. Azerbaijan State Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Patents has hosted a presentation of the proposed project “Strengthening of Standardization, Metrology, Conformity Assessment and
Accreditation”.
The project is supported by the EU Twinning Program. The 24-month project will be financed through a €1.4 million grant from the European Union.
The EU special envoy in Azerbaijan, Alan Waddams, said the project will provide conformity for standardization and will pave the way for the country’s future plans.
The purpose of the Project is the improvement and strengthening of the infrastructure capacity for the implementation of the EU technical legislation principles and in line with WTO-TBT requirements for transparent access to regulations related to free movement of goods
Ramiz Hasanov, Director General of the Agency, added that the project will help strengthen control over the quality of imports and bring test labs in line with international standards,” he added.
The project is to be implemented by the Germany-Austria consortium.
