Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva –APA-Economics. The Center for the Devastating Impact on the Environment and Natural Resources in the Occupied Territories has released some facts about environmental and natural damages caused by Armenians in Zengilan area.
The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources said the area was subjected to environmental terror.
According to confirmed facts, Armenia regularly discharges 2 100 cubic meters of contaminated water per day to the Araz River through its left arm – the Okhchuchay River.
Contaminated wastewater from Gajaran Copper-Molybdenum Plant and Kafan Copper-Purification Plant are let into the Okhchuchay River, turning the river basin into a dead zone. Micro-flora and fauna of the river were completely destroyed and the process of self-purification of water was disrupted.
In addition, the walnut trees and east-plane trees and other species were completely destroyed in the Topmeshe Forest in Zengilan.
During the occupation, the Armenians have committed arsons in the forests and Bartaz Vedzhnali areas, Dash-Bashi and Leshkar Forests.
40-50-year-old walnut trees in the total area of 55 hectares were felled down and 350-400-year old oak trees were cut in Top Shukurataz Forests and transported.
«Currently, Armenians cut trees that are suitable for construction and furniture-making and sell to other countries. Besides, narcotics are cultivated in our lands. They keep committing arsons in natural zones too,” said the ministry.
