Gahraman Agayev: â€œWe can lose mass grave found in Gubaâ€

He said head of the Guba Region Executive Power told them that they would start establishing of museum in that territory soon. â€œNecessary measures should be taken before establishing the museum there. Otherwise our work will not bring results and next generation will not forgive us. This territory is only found mass grave, which unveiled the disgusting face of Armenians and confirmed the fact of their fascism. We lost one of the holes with human bones last year as a result of landslide. We can lose another hole if the case of museum is not solved. Last year frost froze ground waters there and when weather became warmer it caused landslide. Meteorologists forecast harsh frost this year too, if we do not prevent the ground waters, the incident can occur again and we will lose the grave. We need immediate measures thereâ€.
Agayev said ANAS Institute of Archeology and Ethnography completed researches in the Guba mass grave on September 7 and handed over the results to the local Executive Power. â€œThe relative authorities should develop the work there. It is historical political issue and government organizations should approach it at high levelâ€.
Agayev said he would leave for Guba on Tuesday to learn last situation there.
Member of Parliament from Guba Havid ahmadov said local authorities had done certain works there and they addressed the Government to allocate additional resources. He said he was informed that resources would be allocated from 2009 budget.
First deputy head of Guba Executive Power Yusif abidov said the territory was seriously protected by police. â€œThe works have been stopped temporarily. The government is planning to build large memorial complex there. The graveâ€™s surface is protected with asbestos sheeting to prevent ground watersâ€™ flowâ€.
410 human skulls were found in the mass grave in Guba. Most of them were women and childrenâ€™s bones.
