Brucellosis spread among cattle in Lagodechi region of Georgia infects people

The disease has already infected people. The information says that 26 people were infected by this disease, they are being treated. The decision was made on culling ill animals.
Spokesman of State Veterinary Service at Azerbaijan Agriculture Ministry Yolchu Khanveli told the APA, import of beef from Georgia to Azerbaijan are not expected to be banned. Khanveli saying that brucellosis is also observed among cattle in Azerbaijan underlined that if beef is imported from any country, it is put in quarantine for 40 days and examined. If any disease is revealed, import of beef will be banned.
Khanveli said that constant analyses are being carried out for learning situation regarding brucellosis. New control examinations will start on September 17. It aims to specify analyses again and assist veterinary surgeons in this field. /APA/
