CMO announces start of Muharram and date of Ashura Day

The Council of Qadis of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO) and its authorized representatives have addressed the Muslims of the country on the occasion of the beginning of the month of Muharram, the CMB told APA in response to an inquiry.

It was stated that, according to the calendar prepared by the Fatwa Department of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Administrations of the Organization of Turkic States, as well as calculations by the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the 1st day of Muharram will fall on June 16 according to the Gregorian calendar, while Ashura Day will be observed on June 25.
