Indian ambassador discusses cooperation opportunities in Lankaran and Lerik

India's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Abhay Kumar, held several meetings in the districts of Lankaran and Lerik as part of his visit to the country's southern region,  the embassy told APA.

The purpose of the visit was to develop cooperation between India and Azerbaijan in the fields of culture, healthcare, agriculture, and the environment.

The ambassador first visited the Lankaran History and Local Lore Museum. During a meeting with the museum's director, Leyla Majidova, he was informed about the region's rich historical and cultural heritage and the museum's role in preserving this heritage.

As part of the visit, the diplomat visited the Yenee Wellness Center and met with its chief physician, Emil Hidayatli. The parties discussed opportunities for promoting Ayurveda, yoga, and holistic health practices in Azerbaijan. During the meeting, the importance of promoting a healthy lifestyle ahead of International Yoga Day was emphasized.

Abhay Kumar also visited a green tea plantation in Lankaran, where he met with the owner and director of the enterprise, Araz Yagubov. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the region's tea-growing traditions, modern cultivation methods, and the role of tea production in local agriculture. Emphasizing the shared tea culture of India and Azerbaijan, they considered opportunities for expanding cooperation and the exchange of experience in this field.

The ambassador also visited Hirkan National Park and Khanbulan Lake, where he became acquainted with the region's biodiversity and natural heritage. During the visit, attention was drawn to the ecological significance of the area and the importance of nature conservation.

In Lerik district, the diplomat visited the Longevity Museum. The museum's chief curator, Matanat Guliyeva, informed the guest about the museum's exhibits and Lerik's traditions of longevity. It was noted that the district, located in the Talysh Mountains, is internationally known as the “Land of Longevity.”

At the conclusion of the visit, Abhay Kumar expressed his gratitude for the hospitality shown to him. He said he hopes that cooperation and people-to-people ties between India and Azerbaijan in the fields of culture, healthcare, sustainable agriculture, ecotourism, and environmental protection will continue to expand.
