Wahhabists not allowed to perform namaz in Ashurbey Mosque

The religious men approaching the mosque were moved away. The policemen said there was no room in Ashurbey Mosque to perform namaz. Both the policemen and officers of the State Committee on Work with Religious Associations advised them to go to Goy Mosque or Bibi Heybet Mosque. The wahhabists attempted several times to enter the mosque, but the policemen did not allow them in. it was silent in the territory after the namaz.

Representative of State Committee on Work with Religious Associations Gunduz Ismayilov told APA that the religious men were prohibited from entering the mosque, not because of their sect.
â€œSafety measures have been strengthened in the mosques after the explosion in Abu Bakr Mosque. It is allowed to perform namaz only inside mosques. People performed namaz around Ashurbey Mosque for a few days. But this is not safe. There are other mosques in the capital and they can perform namaz in any mosque they want. We do it only for the safety,â€ he said.

Ismayilov said the committee had not called the police to the site.
â€œThey are simply taking safety measures,â€ he said.
