Caucasian Muslim Board to receive financial aid from state budget

The CMBâ€™s financing will be carried out on the basis of decree of Azerbaijani president signed on July 1, 2011. The decree instructed the Cabinet of Ministers within three months to prepare proposals for the provision of financial assistance to religious centers (offices), including representations of CMB in different countries. The prepared proposals should be submitted to the president of Azerbaijan. Only CMB passes a state registration in Azerbaijan and a religious center (or office). Thatâ€™s why only CMB will receive the financial aid from the religious organizations. Financial aid from the state budget for this religious organization is scheduled to begin in 2012.

The CMBâ€™s representations will be established in the various countries and these representations will be financed from the state budget, it is also mentioned in the decree.

The law on amendments to the law on â€œFreedom of beliefâ€ signed by the Azerbaijani president on June 10 2011 notes that the religious organizations can be rendered a financial aid from the state organs or local councils. Thus, it is possible for the other organizations (including the religious communities) to receive the state or local municipality aid.
