Baku hosted reporting back meeting of the Supreme Religious Council of the Caucasus Peoples

APA reports that in his speech, chairman of Caucasus Muslim Board Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh said that the peace in the Caucasus passes through multinational and inter-religious understanding and cooperation: â€œWe are sure that it is possible to prevent the physical and moral violence plans of extremists and terrorist groups with the joint activity state leaders, socio-political figures with the religious unionsâ€.

Pashazadeh said that the religious figures are worried in the occurred in the Caucasus, the bloody terrorist acts take place in the region and sometimes the religious leaders become victim of it. He thinks that it is possible to defeat terrorism and extremism only in mutual cooperation condition. He characterized the Nagorno Karabakh conflict as Azerbaijanâ€™s main problem and said that this conflict must be settled as a result of return of refugees and IDPs to their homes.

Chechnya mufti Soltan Mirzayev noted that one of the main purposes of the Caucasian religious figures was to protect the youth from radical religious flows. According to him, the extreme religious groups which are using the unemployment and the other social problems want to attract the youth to their rows: â€œIt is a very dangerous tendency. Thatâ€™s why the figures of Caucasian traditional religions must strengthen enlightenment and affairs with the youth. We must go to the youth carry out large explanation worksâ€.

Adygei mufti Nurbiy Yemizh also agreed with the importance of enlightenment work with the youth. He said that such untraditional religious flows and extreme groups try to strengthen their position in the Caucasus after Soviet Unionâ€™s disintegration: â€œIt does not coincide with peace and tranquility in the Caucasus, because these circles are engaged in separatism and making mischiefâ€.

Mufti of Karachay-Cherkessia Ismayil Berdiyev said that Azerbaijan is model country on the issue of religious tranquility.

The member countries adopted the joint appeal to the UN at the end of the meeting.
