New synagogue opened in Azerbaijan - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

According to APA, Russian, Israeli, US, Moldovan, Latvian, Turkish and Kazakh ambassadors to Azerbaijan, representatives of the religious confessions, as well as chairman of the State Committee on Work with Religious Organizations Hidayat Orujov attended the opening ceremony.

Leader of the Azerbaijani Upland Jews Community Semyon Ikhiilov opened the ceremony. He noted that he is happy that a new synagogue was opene din Azerbaijan and so many visitors came here to celebrate this event. “I would like that all nations in Azerbaijan live like a family”.

Then Orujov addressed the ceremony and conveyed congratulations of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. “The opening of the new synagogue is a great event. Construction of the building was funded by the government of Azerbaijan. There are many confessions in Azerbaijan. This is only former USSR country, where there is no religious discrimination. This is a result of the policy pursued by Azerbaijan. One of the most important points of the Azerbaijan’s policy is the religious tolerance”.

Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan Michael Lavon Lotem thanked the Azerbaijani President. He highly appreciated the opening of a new synagogue in Azerbaijan on the eve of the Passover. The ambassador congratulated the Jewish community on this event. The diplomat said the synagogue would be a great support to the Jewish people in Azerbaijan.
