He said the existing legislation restricts the influence of the foreign organizations on the local religious communities complicating missionary work by untraditional and radical trends.
â€œAzerbaijanâ€™s orthodox community is on firm ground, does not undergo pressures. New churches are opened in Azerbaijan, Muslims are actively participating in financing of their construction. Russian Orthodox Church has established warm relations with head of the Azerbaijani Muslims Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh. Sheikh-ul-Islam has been awarded highest orders by the Orthodox Church. He has been honorary co-chair of the CIS Interreligious Council since 2004, since 2009 he has been chairing the CIS Muslims Advisory Council bringing together the leading Muslim organizations in the post-Soviet area,â€ he said.
