Rules for regulating functioning of religious educational establishments prepared in Azerbaijan

Baku. Parvin Abbasov â€“ APA. The State Committee for Religious Associations held a board meeting on the outcomes of 2010, press service of the committee told APA. The achievements in the socio-political life of the country were noted at the meeting. Regulation of the state-religion relationship, freedom of religion, Islamic and non-Islamic holidays and events, favorable conditions created for the believers were discussed at the meeting.

Chairman of the State Committee Hidayat Orujov underlined the importance of the Baku summit of the world religious leaders held in the reporting year.

The overhaul and reconstruction of the religious, historical monuments and construction of new praying places on the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev were highly appreciated at the meeting. Hidayat Orujov said Heydar Aliyev Foundation continues the action program on the construction and overhaul of historical, religious monuments.

Hidayat Orujov said after the amendments and annexes made to the law on â€œFreedom of religionâ€, reregistration of the religious communities began. In accordance with the amendments and annexes made to this law, instructions were prepared for determining the expediency of the construction of praying places and the reconstruction of praying places, selling the religious books, things and other religious materials, rules prepared for regulating the functioning of the religious educational establishments.
â€œWorkshops held in the educational institutions, detention facilities together with the city and district executive offices, release of our newspaper, magazine, preventive measures taken along with other bodies of course played great role in raising religious awareness.â€

State-religion relations are the main part of freedom of conscience, one of priority spheres of prediction of stateâ€™s security and its management, and that is why all employees of the State Committee, especially who work in the regions must make analytical analysis, base on both theoretical methodological and practical work forms in establishment of healthy environment inside the society. It was specially noted that for constant healthy and civil religious organization business relations with both Islamic and non-Islamic religious communities functioning in the republic must be established only on legal platform.

Delivering speech at the event department chiefs on State Committeeâ€™s Central office and regions noted that situation in religious sphere in our country was stabile. Religious situation has been discussed in all regions of our republic and there was sounded such opinion that, each believer first of all is a citizen, objective religious enlightenment of work for tanning of ability of national spiritual values must be strengthen constantly. Just within this format weakening of foreign influences in religious events, especially in Ashura and other ceremonies were observed this year compared previous years. All these show that each citizen of the State Committee, other related organizations must use their authorities in prevention of habits contrary to shariat laws, unmasking of forces intending to play with religious honor of citizens.

Orujov finalized the meeting and noted that 2010 was successful year in organizationâ€™s activity.
