Hidayat Orujov: â€œSome religious associations in Azerbaijan build their activities on the basis of recommendations by foreign special servicesâ€

According to APA, Orujov said there were some forces abusing healthy religious environment in Azerbaijan. â€œThose religious associations build their activities on the basis of recommendations by foreign special services. Some forces are trying to use religion for their private goalsâ€. Orujov noted that forces not having relations to the religion have been weakened in comparison with previous years. â€œAzerbaijan takes necessary measures to establish perfect environment of toleranceâ€.

He said amendments to relevant legislative acts also had positive impact. â€œI would like to mention re-registration of religious associations. This is very comprehensive work. We see positive results now. New communities are established and they are working within the law. The religious communities are allowed to function only after the registration. Earlier some communities were not interested to be registeredâ€.

Orujov said 24 religious communities refused to be registered. 15 of them are Muslim, 9 â€“ other faiths.
