The media reported that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will not attend the informal summit of the heads of state of the Organization of Turkic States, which will be held in Shusha on July 6, APA reports citing official circles.
During the conversation between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Türkiye within the framework of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Astana on July 3-4, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the Turkish national team will meet the Dutch national team in Germany on July 6 as part of the 1/4 European Football Championship and he may go there to support the national team.
It was suggested that the President of Türkiye attend the event in Shusha in the first half of the day and then go to Germany. However, President Ilham Aliyev, emphasizing the importance of the Turkish national team reaching the quarter-finals, as well as the importance of the victory of Turkish football players for the entire Turkic world, suggested that the Turkish leader go to Germany to be with the national team, and not to Shusha.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that Turkey will be represented at a high level at the Shusha summit by Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and asked R.T. Erdogan to convey his greetings and good wishes to the Turkish national team. According to the information, the non-participation of the President of Turkey in the Shusha summit is of a protocol nature, and the initiator of this was President Ilham Aliyev, who has always supported relations between the two fraternal peoples.
